Martyna Gibka is a literary onomastician. She defended her PhD thesis "The functions of characters’ proper names in a novel.
A theoretical approach and its application" at the University of Gdańsk in 2017.
She is currently working on onomastics in translation. She aims at creating practical onomastic tools for literary translators. Moreover,
she would like to deepen our understanding of the nature of each onymic function in the novel as well as that of the reception of these functions.
